What are the roles and permissions?

Better i18n uses a simple three-role system to control who can do what in your organization.

Owner

The person who created the organization. There is always exactly one owner. The owner has full control including billing and the ability to delete the organization.

Best for: Founders, project leads, account holders.

Admin

Admins can manage everything except billing and organization deletion. They can invite and remove members, create projects, publish translations, and configure integrations.

Best for: Engineering leads, localization managers, senior developers.

Member

Members can view all projects, edit translations, and use AI translation. They cannot publish, manage projects, or invite other members.

Best for: Translators, junior developers, external collaborators.

Changing a member's role

1. Go to your organization → Members tab
2. Find the member in the list
3. Click the Role dropdown next to their name
4. Select the new role

Only Owners and Admins can change roles. You cannot change your own role.

Transferring ownership

To transfer ownership, contact support. Ownership transfer makes the new person the Owner and changes the current owner's role to Admin.
